Community Pride & Community Service
Open to all ages.
The Olivenhain Valley 4-H community service group is an awesome way to serve your community.
For the 2020-2021 year we will move to virtual service that will include both local and remote projects.
One of our local efforts will align students and seniors to connect virtually through a platform (Zoom, etc..) at scheduled times and do anything from just chat, hear living oral histories, practice a dance routine, play or sing, do homework, or myriad other ways to engage and make sure our seniors and students have healthy and fun mental/social outlets during these unprecedented isolating times.
Our national project will highlight Be My Eyes a free mobile app that connects blind and low-vision individuals with sighted volunteers from all over the world through a live video call. You essentially lend your eyes to help with things like checking expiration dates, distinguishing colors, reading instructions or navigating new surroundings.
When in person volunteering resumes, our group works at food banks, picks fruit in Olivenhain for those food banks, provides pet therapy for seniors, and much, much more. Join us and give back to your community!
Meeting dates TBD.
Junior Leader: Tyler O.
Adult Leader: Vivian O.
