​Sammi Brandenburg (right) was awarded a $1,500 Don Diego Scholarship in the 4-H Category. She was recognized at the Don Diego Gala, "Oh What a Night," held on June 22nd at the fairgrounds with Frankie Valli (parents and scholars got VIP reserved seats down on the "floor" only a few rows from the stage!) 
 
Genevieve Stenger (above) won at the Fair's 4-H Dog Show on June 4th:  1st place in Beginning Novice class for Obedience, then Best in Show Obedience in Beginning Novice class 

Kris Rose (below) won FIRST PLACE in Intermediate Dairy Goat Showmanship - awesome!
Hannah Otto's Oberhasli doe (above) won Grand Champion Oberhasli in the Dairy Goat Show

Kris Rose (below) also won First Place in the Dairy Goat Herdsman Contest "fashion show" with his West Coast/Old West costume and wagon headed for the beach with his baby goats.

Growing up on a farm can be grueling work for a child. But 18-year-old Samuel Sugarman — who spent his boyhood milking cows, collecting eggs and harvesting honey on his family’s Olivenhain property — figures he was the luckiest kid in town.
